Cannabis Packaging Requirements: What Every Brand Should Know

Packaging rules vary by market, but the same themes show up almost everywhere. If you’re building a cannabis or edibles brand, design your packaging around these and you’ll be ready for most jurisdictions.

1. Child-resistance

Most markets require child-resistant packaging for consumable cannabis products. Child-resistant zippers plus tamper-evident heat seals are the standard for mylar. (See our CR guide.)

2. Opacity

Many regulations require that product not be visible through the packaging. Retail-grade mylar is fully opaque — an advantage over clear packaging.

3. Tamper-evidence

A heat seal that must be broken to open the package satisfies tamper-evidence requirements and builds consumer trust.

4. Labeling space

Leave room for required information: potency, net weight, ingredients, warnings, and often a universal symbol. Custom stickers and labels make this clean and repeatable.

5. Consistency across your line

Regulators and retailers both reward brands whose packaging is consistent and professional. Standardize your bags, sizes, and label layout across SKUs.

We stock compliant-style mylar across every category in South Florida and ship same-day. Browse new arrivals or ask about wholesale.

We sell empty packaging only. We do not sell cannabis, oil, or mushroom products. This article is general information, not legal advice — always confirm the current requirements in your specific market.
